Robbery reported at Smiths Station dollar store

UPDATE: CNAW2News has confirmed two people are in custody following good cooperation from witnesses who provided vehicle and suspect descriptions to law enforcement and dispatchers. Evidence including a handgun and currency were recovered. Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones tells us more details will be released soon.


Lee County deputies have swarmed upon a Smiths Station Dollar General following reports of a robbery.

The incident happened during the midday hours of Friday, May 29, 2026, at the Dollar General, located in the 9100 block of Mullins Road (Lee Road 246).

Lee County patrol deputies and investigators responded to the scene.

Further down on Mullins Road, at the Midway Baptist Church, law enforcement surrounded a pink and white Catcha Cab taxi. At least one female was seen being detained by law enforcement.

No injuries were reported so far. This is a developing story, and we are expecting a press release from officials later today with additional details.
