Auburn University is advising residents, commuters and visitors to prepare for increased traffic, enhanced security measures and parking restrictions on Tuesday, June 9, as Jordan-Hare Stadium hosts an international soccer friendly between Argentina and Iceland.

The match is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m., and university officials expect significant crowds and increased vehicle traffic throughout the day.

Beginning at 3 p.m., Auburn University will transition into “gameday mode,” a security protocol commonly used during home football games. Under the plan, exterior doors to campus buildings will be locked, and only individuals with approved gameday access will be permitted to enter designated facilities.

University officials are encouraging faculty, staff and employees who work in the core campus area to work remotely, if possible, to help reduce congestion. Employees involved in Camp War Eagle activities are expected to remain on campus through the conclusion of scheduled events.

Motorists should expect numerous traffic changes around campus beginning Tuesday afternoon. Security barricades will be established at several locations surrounding Jordan-Hare Stadium, including portions of South Donahue Drive, Heisman Drive, War Eagle Way and West Samford Avenue. Access through some barricaded areas will require special event credentials, while other roads will be closed to vehicle traffic altogether.

Parking restrictions will also be implemented throughout the day, with several lots reserved for event operations and additional permit requirements taking effect beginning at 3 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. University officials recommend visitors review parking and road closure information before traveling to campus.

Tiger Transit will operate normal routes until 3 p.m. Limited gameday routes will begin at 4 p.m., with War Eagle Way serving as the primary campus pickup and drop-off hub.

For rideshare users, designated Uber and Lyft pickup and drop-off locations will be available at Ross Square and along Wire Road near West Village.

University officials remind the public to call 911 in the event of an emergency. Non-emergency concerns, including suspicious persons or unauthorized tailgating activity, can be reported to Auburn Campus Safety and Security at 334-844-8888 or the City of Auburn’s non-emergency police and fire line at 334-501-3100.

Normal campus operations are expected to resume Wednesday, June 10.
