Several fire agencies are on the scene of a massive church fire in Crawford.

The Crawford, Ladonia, Uchee Creek, Dixie, Fort Mitchell and Seale volunteer fire departments in Russell County, along with Smiths Station Fire and Rescue, the Russell County Sheriff’s Office, and CARE Ambulance, responded to St. Paul C.M.E. Church on Bleecker Road after being dispatched around 5:05 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2026.




Heavy smoke and flames engulfed the church as the fire appeared to spread through the fellowship hall before extending into the remainder of the structure.

Multiple fire engines and tankers from the responding agencies are being used to battle the blaze.

CNAW2News.com spoke with an Elder of the Church, James Q. Smith, who says as of right now – everyone is OK. He said he received a call about it and immediately responded to the scene.

No information regarding injuries or the cause of the fire has been released at this time.
