An 18-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday after authorities say she threatened to go to a local high school with a rifle and shoot a female juvenile.
According to authorities, Megan Chandler was arrested on August 19, 2026, on a charge of Terroristic Threats following an ongoing dispute with the juvenile.
Investigators say Chandler forwarded an email stating that she was going to Handley High School with a rifle to shoot the juvenile. Authorities said Chandler was unaware that the juvenile was no longer enrolled in the school system.
School Resource Officers and school officials were notified of the threat. As a precaution, Handley High School and Handley Middle School were placed on lockdown while authorities worked to obtain and execute an arrest warrant.
Chandler was located at her residence and taken into custody without incident. She was transported to the Randolph County Jail, where she is being held pending a charge of Terroristic Threats in the First Degree, a Class C felony.
Authorities said the Roanoke City Schools were released from lockdown with no incident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
