Structure fire sends heavy smoke over Phenix City Saturday afternoon

Fire crews are working to extinguish a structure fire in Phenix City Saturday afternoon.

CNAW2News first received word of the fire around 3 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2026, in the 700 block of Sixth Street near Seventh Avenue, just off General Colin Powell Parkway.

Heavy smoke could be seen billowing from the area from miles away. When CNAW2News crews arrived, heavy flames could be seen coming from the structure, with nearly the entire building appearing to be involved in the fire.

Multiple Phenix City Police Department officers blocked off Sixth Street as firefighters from multiple Phenix City Fire & Rescue engines worked to bring the flames under control.

Valley Rescue Mission Ad asking viewers to donate 25 dollars a month.

Haynes Ambulance was also on scene.

No injuries have been reported at this time.

As of approximately 4 p.m., the scene remains active as firefighters continue working to extinguish the fire.
