What is the Friday night football forecast for Columbus and the Chattahoochee Valley?
Friday night is dry at every stadium in the CNAW area, with kickoff temperatures from 58 in LaFayette to 66 in Cuthbert, 65 in Columbus, and light 5 mph wind everywhere.

Friday night is about as easy as November football gets in this part of the country. Every town in the viewing area shows a zero percent rain chance at kickoff, the wind is forecast at 5 mph just about everywhere, and the spread from the coolest stadium to the warmest is only 8 degrees. The sun sets at 5:45, so every game is played in full dark, and the metal bleachers will have been cooling for hours by the time anybody sits down on them.
The coolest place to watch is LaFayette, Alabama, where LaFayette and Chambers Academy play. It will be 58 around kickoff and 56 by the fourth quarter, and with humidity near 80 percent that damp chill goes through a sweatshirt. The same goes in Valley, home to Valley and Beulah, at 59 falling to 56.
The coldest fourth quarters, though, belong to Hogansville and Greenville. Callaway starts the night at 60 and finishes at 55, and Greenville runs 59 down to 55. Just up the road in LaGrange, where LaGrange, Troup County and LaGrange Academy play, it will be 60 at kickoff and 56 late.
Columbus sits in the comfortable middle. At Kinnett Stadium and A.J. McClung Memorial Stadium, where Shaw, Hardaway, Columbus, Spencer, Kendrick, Jordan, Carver, Northside, Calvary Christian, Pacelli and Brookstone play, expect 65 around kickoff under a mostly cloudy sky and 62 by the fourth quarter. Across the river in Phenix City, Central is at 63 falling to 60.
The south end of the area is the warm end. Randolph Clay in Cuthbert, Schley County in Ellaville and Webster County in Preston all start near 66 and only slip to the low 60s late. Stewart County in Lumpkin, Marion County in Buena Vista, Chattahoochee County in Cusseta and Quitman County in Georgetown are all near 65 at kickoff.
Around Auburn and Opelika, where Auburn, Lee-Scott, Opelika and Beauregard play, it will be 61 around kickoff and 58 or 59 by the end. Smiths Station and Glenwood sit at 62 falling to 59, Booker T. Washington in Tuskegee runs 61 to 59, and Loachapoka and Notasulga are in the same range. Russell County in Seale will be 61 at kickoff.
Farther out, Lanett and Springwood are at 62 dropping to 58, Eufaula is also 62 to 58, and Barbour County in Clayton runs 60 to 58. On the Georgia side, Harris County in Hamilton sits at 62, Manchester at 61, Central-Talbotton at 63 and Taylor County in Butler at 64.
What to bring: leave the umbrella at home, because nowhere in the area shows a rain chance. A light jacket or a hoodie handles the second half anywhere south of Columbus. In LaGrange, Hogansville, Greenville, LaFayette and Valley, the air is damp enough that the mid 50s bite, so take the heavier coat and something to sit on. Cold aluminum pulls heat out of you faster than 56-degree air ever will.
Around kickoff → by the fourth quarter, on each school’s own clock.
