How cold will it be Monday morning at the bus stop in Columbus and LaGrange?
At 7 AM Monday it is 45 degrees in Columbus and 37 in LaGrange, with the area's coldest stop at 35 degrees in Hogansville and the mildest at 47 in Phenix City.

There is a 12-degree spread across the viewing area at 7 AM Monday, and all of it comes from geography. Hogansville, where Callaway goes to school, starts the morning at 35 degrees. Phenix City, home of Central, starts at 47. Both will be under a clear sky with barely a breath of wind.
That gap is the signature of a calm, cloudless night. With no wind to stir the air and no clouds to hold heat in, the ground cools fast and the coldest air slides downhill into low spots and river bottoms. The northern end of the area, farther from the warmer water and pavement of the Chattahoochee corridor, loses the most.
Around LaGrange, where LaGrange, Troup County and LaGrange Academy go to school, it is 37 degrees at 7 AM under full sun, the same reading as Greenville. Lanett and Springwood in Lanett start at 39, Manchester at 40. In Chambers County, LaFayette and Chambers Academy in LaFayette and Valley and Beulah in Valley both begin at 42. The same 42 shows up at Chattahoochee County in Cusseta, Quitman County in Georgetown and Central-Talbotton in Talbotton.
The middle of the area lands in the low 40s. Harris County in Hamilton and Webster County in Preston both open at 43. Eufaula, Booker T. Washington in Tuskegee, Marion County in Buena Vista, Stewart County in Lumpkin and Taylor County in Butler are all at 44.
Columbus sits at 45 degrees at 7 AM with a light north breeze and a mostly sunny sky — the same reading for Shaw, Hardaway, Columbus, Spencer, Kendrick, Jordan, Carver, Northside, Calvary Christian, Pacelli and Brookstone. Opelika and Beauregard in Opelika, Smiths Station and Glenwood, Russell County in Seale, Notasulga, Barbour County in Clayton, Randolph Clay in Cuthbert and Schley County in Ellaville all share that 45. Auburn and Lee-Scott in Auburn, along with Loachapoka, begin at 46.
Nowhere in the area has a rain chance Monday morning, and the wind holds at 5 mph or less everywhere, so none of these numbers will feel colder than they read. What makes the morning tricky is the afternoon: Columbus climbs to about 75 by midday. A jacket or hoodie that can be stuffed in a backpack is the right call, not a heavy coat. In the coldest spots — Hogansville, LaGrange, Greenville — gloves would not be wasted at 7 AM.
One more thing for anyone scraping a windshield in Troup or Meriwether County: with the air in the mid 30s and the dew point near 43 on Sunday, moisture condensing on cold glass and car roofs can turn to patchy frost even when the thermometer stays above freezing. Give yourself the extra five minutes.
No school or town by that name in the viewing area.
Forecast: National Weather Service, 7 AM on each town’s own clock — Central in Alabama, Eastern in Georgia.
