Any address, any day. Up to 9 days out, it’s our forecast. Further out, an extended forecast from 30 years of weather here.
Our automated weather channel is on the air around the clock: the radar, the temperatures, the week ahead — and when a warning hits the Valley, it stays with the storm.
Will there be severe storms in Columbus and east Alabama today?
A cold front brings likely showers and storms to Columbus and the rest of the Valley today, with a Marginal Risk of a few strong storms over eastern Alabama and a much colder weekend following, starting near 42 degrees Saturday morning.

Walk out onto the RiverWalk between Columbus and Phenix City this morning and the air does not feel like November. The temperature is around 70 degrees under a solid deck of low cloud, and the dew point sits near 67, which is why everything feels damp before you have gone a hundred yards. Yesterday morning Columbus never dropped below 64 degrees. The normal low for this date is 50.
That warm, wet air is the fuel for today. A cold front is approaching from the west while a warm front lifts north ahead of it, and forecasters at Peachtree City expect shower and thunderstorm coverage to keep increasing through the afternoon. The rain chance in Columbus is 83 percent with a high near 79. The Storm Prediction Center has parts of the Southeast in a Marginal Risk, the lowest of its five levels, and the Birmingham office puts eastern Alabama inside it: gusty, damaging winds are the main concern, with an isolated tornado possible. Where storms train over the same ground, Peachtree City warns of nuisance flooding in low spots and places that drain poorly.
Behind the rain, another batch of low cloud and fog is expected to form overnight, and it is likely to be sitting over the roads for Thursday's early drive from Opelika, Hamilton and Lumpkin. Thursday afternoon still reaches 81 and Friday 80, both well above the normal high of 72 and both short of the 86 degrees set here on this date in 2000.
Then the season changes its mind. A second front crosses Friday with little rain, and Saturday morning in Columbus starts near 42 with a high of 73. Sunday and Monday mornings do the same. Forecasters in Birmingham say a frost advisory may be needed for parts of their area as early as Saturday night. If you have tender plants on a porch in LaGrange or Hamilton, Friday is the day to move them.
