Plan ahead
Any address, any day. Up to 9 days out, it’s our forecast. Further out, an extended forecast from 30 years of weather here.
Our automated weather channel is on the air around the clock: the radar, the temperatures, the week ahead — and when a warning hits the Valley, it stays with the storm.
When will it rain in Columbus GA this week and how cold does it get this weekend?
Columbus has an 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday ahead of a cold front, then falls to a low of 50 Friday morning and 47 on Saturday.

Columbus never climbed out of the 60s on Sunday. The high at the Columbus Airport was 65, which is 8 degrees below normal for the date, and yet the morning low of 57 was 7 degrees above normal. A cool afternoon paired with a mild night is what a full day under unbroken low cloud looks like.
That same setup is still in place this morning. High pressure anchored off to our northeast is pushing shallow, damp air back down into Georgia and Alabama under a gray lid. Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Peachtree City expect a stray sprinkle or a patch of drizzle around daybreak, with most places staying dry. The clouds should thin by midday, the easterly wind will gust to around 20 mph, and Columbus should reach about 79 this afternoon and 81 on Tuesday. Both are warmer than the normal high of 73 for this date.
The week turns on Wednesday. Deep moisture arrives ahead of a cold front moving out of the Mississippi Valley, dew points climb into the mid 60s, and rain spreads into west Georgia during the morning. Columbus carries an 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Peachtree City does not expect widespread severe weather, while the Birmingham office is flagging heavy downpours that could cause localized flooding on the Alabama side. Forecasters put the totals at half an inch to an inch across central Georgia, with 1 to 2 inches farther north.
Behind the front, the jackets come out. Columbus falls to a low of 50 Friday morning and 47 on Saturday, and the Birmingham forecasters mention a few upper 30s in their area over the weekend.
For the year, Columbus has recorded 43.60 inches of rain since January 1, roughly three and a half inches more than normal through the first of November. If you have something outdoors that can be moved, move it off Wednesday and onto Tuesday or Friday.
