Altercation involving multiple Beauregard High School students leads to teacher, deputy being struck, pepper spray being deployed

An altercation early Wednesday morning at Beauregard High School led to a teacher and a Lee County deputy being struck and pepper spray being deployed.

Lee County Sheriff’s Office say their deputies responded to the school to assist School Resource Officers in regards to the altercation involving multiple students on campus.

During the altercation, a teacher was struck by a student. “During an attempt to protect a student from being attacked, a Deputy was kicked & struck by students involved in the altercation,” authorities said. A Deputy deployed pepper spray as part of the attempts to restore order. Some students were exposed to the pepper spray.

“Students involved are being interviewed, and there are no serious injuries to any students,” authorities added.
