Two juveniles arrested in connection to string of vehicle thefts and break-ins

The Columbus Police Department says two juveniles have been arrested following a string of stolen vehicles and vehicle break-ins that impacted the community last weekend.

According to the department’s Property Crimes Unit, investigators spent the past week investigating the incidents before obtaining arrest warrants for two individuals believed to be responsible.

On Thursday, investigators located both suspects and took them into custody. Police said the juveniles are currently being held at the Aaron Cohn Youth Detention Center.

Authorities emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing.

According to the Property Crimes Unit, investigators have identified several additional individuals believed to be involved and are actively working to locate and arrest them.

In a statement, the Property Crimes Unit said:

“We know our community was impacted by a number of stolen vehicles and vehicle break-ins last weekend. After a week of hard work, investigators with the Property Crimes Unit obtained arrest warrants for two individuals believed to be responsible for these crimes.”

The unit added that investigators “remain committed to protecting our community by identifying, locating, and apprehending those who choose to victimize our citizens” and thanked the public for its support and patience as the investigation continues.

Police also stated they will “continue working tirelessly to hold offenders accountable and make Columbus a safer place.”

The identities of the juveniles have not been released due to their age.
