Columbus police are investigating a deadly overnight shooting.

The shooting occurred in the 5500 block of Miller Road around 2:30 A.M. on Monday, September 2, 2024.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan confirmed the victim was taken to Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown and later pronounced deceased at 3:52 A.M. The victim is a 34-year-old male.

Bryan added the victim’s identity will not be released at this time due to the next of kin still being looked for. The victim will be taken to The Georgia Bureau of Investigations in Decatur, Georgia for an autopsy..

This is the first confirmed shooting and homicide for Columbus so far this month. This remains a developing story.
