A high-speed chase involving several agencies ended in Phenix City Sunday morning.
The chase began on U.S. Highway 280 East near Opelika city limits around 1:40 eastern time on Sunday, May 3, 2026.
Lee County deputies and Opelika police officers were seen chasing a vehicle eastbound into Phenix City city limits, according to the traffic camera.
Also noticed on the traffic cameras — several Phenix City police officers stationed along Highway 280 as the chase entered their jurisdiction.
The chase came to a screeching halt around U.S. Highway 280 Bypass near Crawford Road, in front of the Walgreens.
Phenix City police and Russell County deputies were also spotted at the crash scene. A heavy law enforcement presence is in the area while they work the scene.
This is the second chase in Lee County within several hours. On Saturday night, Lee County deputies chased a vehicle. The vehicle eventually stopped on Fox Run Parkway and McCoy Street.
