UPDATE: Man shot, killed at Smiths Station mobile home park; suspect arrested

UPDATE 1: Lee County Coroner Daniel Sexton has identified the man who was shot and killed outside his residence at a Smiths Station mobile home park as 34-year-old Anthony Levi Hodge.

Hodge was pronounced dead at Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital at 7:35 P.M. CST.

Hodge will be transported by the Lee County Coroner’s Office to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science Montgomery Medical for postmortem exam.

The investigation remains ongoing.


A man has died after being shot in the chest at a Smiths Station mobile home park Sunday night.

The incident occurred at Sawyers Mobile Home Park on Lee Road 246, where the 34-year-old was shot in the chest.

The 20-year-old suspect was found in a white pickup truck at Terry’s Grocery by the deputies of Lee County Sheriff’s Office, according to Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones.

An additional scene was found behind Philadelphia Baptist Church, where Liresaver 3 had landed. The victim was eventually taken by ground by ambulance to Jack Hughston Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Investigators have recovered the handgun believed to have been used.

Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones confirms “the shooting appears to be the end result of a dispute between the two involved.”

The investigation remains ongoing and the identities of the suspect and victim are unknown at this time.
