One person was killed and three others were critically injured following a head-on crash Wednesday evening on GA-219 near Murphy Road, according to authorities.

The crash happened on May 6, 2026, at approximately 6:05 p.m. Troopers responded to the scene involving a Pontiac Grand Prix and a Toyota Prius.

Investigators determined the Pontiac was traveling south on GA-219 while negotiating a slight left curve. The Toyota was traveling north at the time of the crash. Authorities say the Pontiac failed to maintain its lane, crossed into the opposite lane of travel, and struck the Toyota head-on.

According to officials, all four occupants involved in the crash — two adult males, one adult female, and one juvenile female — were found unconscious and unresponsive at the scene.

All victims were transported to WellStar West Georgia Hospital for treatment. The male driver of the Pontiac was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. The driver was identified as 20-year-old Alexander Brooks, of LaGrange, according to Troup County Coroner Erin Hackley.

The adult male, adult female, and juvenile female who were occupants in the Toyota remain unconscious and are listed in critical condition, authorities said.

The crash remains under investigation.
