Phenix City firefighters extinguished a house fire early Sunday morning that left one home destroyed and damaged a neighboring residence.

The fire occurred in the 1000 block of 18th Avenue, near Tenth Place, around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2026.

CNAW2News crews responded to the scene later Sunday morning and found one home completely destroyed. The roof had collapsed, the siding had melted and burned away, and the interior was a total loss.

A neighboring home also sustained damage, with heat from the fire melting part of its siding.

According to historical Google Earth imagery, a home on the adjacent property at 1000 18th Avenue South was destroyed by fire at least four years ago. Today, only the concrete foundation remains at that location.

The cause of Sunday’s fire remains under investigation. No information about injuries has been released.
