Officers were dispatched to the Budgetel Inn in the 3100 block of Victory Drive shortly before 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2026, in reference to a reported shooting.

According to authorities, one person was injured in the shooting and transported to a local hospital for treatment. The victim’s current condition is unknown.

The suspect was taken into custody, according to police.

CNAW2News crews at the scene observed a crime scene investigator collecting evidence from a second-floor balcony at the hotel. Multiple evidence markers were placed throughout the area, and investigators collected several pieces of evidence.

Crime scene tape was placed around a section of one of the hotel’s balconies as investigators processed the scene.

Authorities have not released the identity of the suspect or announced any charges at this time.
