    Why it is doing this

    The dew point is only 49. Dry air swings hard both ways: warm by afternoon, and a good deal colder by dawn than the forecast number suggests.

    The sky is nearly clear, so the sun does its full work by day and the ground radiates that heat straight back out after dark.

    The wind is out of the north at about 6 miles an hour, so the air over us is coming down out of the interior, which is drier and cooler air.
