What will the weather be like at Friday night football games around Columbus GA?
Friday night football weather across the Columbus and Auburn-Opelika area is dry and nearly calm, with kickoff temperatures from 59 degrees in Greenville to 66 in Cuthbert and no rain at any stadium.

This is the kind of Friday night the stands were built for. Air at kickoff will be in the upper 50s to the middle 60s across the viewing area, the wind is only about 5 miles an hour everywhere, and the rain chance is zero at every stadium from Hogansville to Eufaula. Clear and calm air also cools steadily once the sun goes down, so the fourth quarter will be noticeably cooler than the first.
The coolest seats are in the north and the northeast of the area. Around Greenville, where Greenville plays, it will be 59 around kickoff and 56 two hours later, the coolest reading on our map. Hogansville, home of Callaway, starts at 61 and falls to 56 by the fourth quarter, the steepest drop anywhere. Around LaGrange, where LaGrange, Troup County and LaGrange Academy play, it will be 61 around kickoff and 57 late. Manchester sits at 61 and 58. The air there is also damp, with humidity near 75 to 79 percent, and damp air at 57 degrees feels colder on an aluminum bench than the number suggests.
In Alabama's Chambers County, LaFayette and Chambers Academy begin near 61 and settle to 58, while Valley and Beulah in Valley see 62 easing to 59. Lanett and Springwood start warmer at 65 and come down to 60.
The Auburn-Opelika corridor is a few degrees milder. Auburn and Lee-Scott in Auburn, and Opelika and Beauregard in Opelika, all sit near 63 around kickoff and 60 by the fourth quarter under mostly clear sky. Smiths Station and Glenwood in Smiths Station are 64 and 61. In Tuskegee, Booker T. Washington is 64 and 61, with Notasulga and Loachapoka right there as well.
The warmest stands are along the river and south. Columbus, where Shaw, Hardaway, Columbus, Spencer, Kendrick, Jordan, Carver, Northside, Pacelli, Calvary Christian and Brookstone play at Kinnett Stadium, A.J. McClung and their own fields, holds 65 around kickoff and 62 late, the mildest fourth quarter in the area. Central-Phenix City is 65 falling to 61. Russell County in Seale is 64 and 61. Cuthbert, home of Randolph Clay, has the warmest kickoff at 66, cooling to 61. Stewart County in Lumpkin, Quitman County in Georgetown, Chattahoochee County in Cusseta, Marion County in Buena Vista, Webster County in Preston and Schley County in Ellaville all run 65 at kickoff and near 60 or 61 later. Harris County in Hamilton, Central-Talbotton and Taylor County in Butler land between 63 and 64 early and about 60 late. In Eufaula and in Clayton, where Barbour County plays, expect 63 early and around 60 to 61 at the end.
What to pack is simple. Leave the umbrella at home, because the rain chance is zero at every one of these towns. In Columbus, Phenix City, Cuthbert and Lumpkin a long-sleeve shirt is plenty. In Greenville, Hogansville, LaGrange and Manchester, bring a light jacket or a hoodie for the second half.
The sun sets at 5:44 these days, so the lights carry the whole game. With barely any wind to stir the air, the temperature keeps sliding quietly from the opening kickoff to the handshake.
