Our automated weather channel is on the air around the clock: the radar, the temperatures, the week ahead — and when a warning hits the Valley, it stays with the storm.
Is it going to rain in Columbus GA this week?
Rain chances in Columbus and across west Georgia and east Alabama stay at or near zero through at least Thursday, after a month that has brought Columbus just 0.07 of an inch.

Step out onto the Chattahoochee RiverWalk in Columbus or Phenix City at sunrise this week and the dirt along the edge of the pavement will be dry under your shoe. Columbus has measured 0.07 of an inch of rain so far this month. A normal first week of November brings about 0.68 of an inch.
That is the surprising part, because 2026 has been a generous year for rain here. Since January 1 the gauge at the Columbus Airport has collected 43.67 inches, about three inches more than normal for the date. The tap simply closed when the calendar turned: since September 1 the city is roughly an inch behind normal, and Friday's rainfall total was zero.
The reason sits well to our northeast. An upper-level low near the Northeast coast is funneling a deep layer of very dry air southeastward across Georgia and Alabama through Monday, and high pressure settles in behind it. Forecasters at Peachtree City have rain chances below 10 percent across the region and near zero through at least Thursday. The first real shot at rain holds off until the end of next week, and only if moisture from the Gulf can work its way back inland. From LaGrange to Hamilton to Eufaula, there is nothing to dodge.
Afternoons stay pleasant and a little warm for November. Columbus should reach 69 on Saturday, 72 on Sunday and 76 on Monday, against a normal high of 71 for early November. Mornings are the trade-off, with lows near 41 both weekend mornings.
Here is what the dry stretch means in your yard. The top couple of inches of soil across the Valley is still close to 69 degrees, warm enough that fall-planted shrubs and newly seeded grass keep putting down roots. Warm soil, dry air and full sun pull moisture out of the ground quickly. If you put anything new in the ground in Auburn, Opelika, Manchester or LaGrange over the past month, the hose is the only rain it is going to see for a while.
